Position: Embedded Software Developer

Job Summary:

SciCan is looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join our growing and well established company for a 6 month contract.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Special Projects, the Embedded Software Engineer/Developer will perform one or more of the following:

  • Design and develop embedded software for embedded systems running 8 / 32 bit processors (ex ARM,Coldfire, 80C51)
  • Implement software for Real time OS (MQX) on ARM / Coldfire Architecture for Medical devices, C/C++ (RTOS,Driver,MFS,RTC,USBH), HTML, Javascript, CGI,Java,C#, Automatic Code generation
  • Software verification and validation during all design phases
  • Hardware/Software integration
  • Develop and/or maintain software documentation.

Required Qualifications:

To meet the challenges of this role, you must:

  • have a degree in engineering studies preferably with an embedded software focus,
  • have experience with microcontrollers and communication interfaces; C language for microcontroller programming, with C/C++/C#/Java programming and in writing software documentation,
  • Have experience with RTOS, compilers, debuggers and ICE tools
  • Have some experience with Linux / Perl / PHP / HTML / Ajax
  • Have experience associated with creation and maintaining technical documentation,
  • Have demonstrated team skills, have solid organizing skills and demonstrated initiative,
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Have strong project management skills

Position: Vice President, Research & Development

Job Summary:

The Vice President, Research & Development will define the research/development strategy that will enable SciCan to be a market leader for all product offerings and applications worldwide and will make significant contributions to the innovation, development and execution of the company’s product strategy by providing SciCan with new technologies and products necessary to meet and exceed customer expectations. He/She will implement systems and processes to ensure successful execution of strategy. The incumbent will develop research/development organization and programs to support the strategic growth goals of SciCan. The VP of R&D will ensure the department conforms to all established company policies and procedures and carries them out to the highest achievable level in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. The VP of R&D acts as the technical lead for multi-departmental projects creating solutions that meet market needs relating to architecture, implementation, testing and maintenance of SciCan product

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a technology vision for the company consistent with the business strategy.
  • Play a key role in business strategic planning and annual business planning processes.
  • Sets a successful direction by establishing a clear and compelling vision. Instills a sense of urgency and motivates engineers to meet deadlines and budgets. Sets high expectations and holds others and self-accountable for the results expected.
  • Ensure that a Product Development Protocol is in place and utilized to ensure timely introduction of new products. The protocol shall provide for market requirements that is clearly understood and technical capabilities, which yield high value solutions to unmet problems.
  • Maintain responsibility for ensuring the organization is prepared to execute on research and product development initiatives.
  • Maintain responsibility for hiring , developing and retaining a diverse, highly qualified staff and for providing career coaching, growth and personal development for direct/indirect report employees to assume greater responsibilities within the organization and empowers them to act in the best interest of the organization.
  • Serve as the senior technical/scientific officer and manager, overseeing all product research and development.
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with key global market regulatory and quality requirements and develops, implements, and monitors effective systems and procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory agency rules and regulations.
  • Develop and Manage costs and budget to ensure financial targets are met and maintains compliance with the Regional and Global Control Frameworks.
  • Work with all disciplines, develops, implements, monitors, and champions continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Directs regular review of markets and products to identify trends and promising opportunities.
  • Foresees how decisions may impact the financial state of the rest of the organization; effectively planning and managing to budgets.
  • Continuously refines work processes and suggests reallocation of resources to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of development.
  • Understands how ideas are converted into successful development and commercialization programs and continuously works to improve these processes and impact profitability and grow share.
  • Perform all other essential duties as directed.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required; Advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 to15 years of experience in both technology and development of products especially in the areas of the dental/medical disinfection/sterilizations products is required.
  • Good working knowledge of dental/medical device quality & regulatory systems and device directives (ISO 13485 and FDA CFR 820)
  • Must demonstrate strategic thinking as well as the willingness to lead initiatives through implementation and post implementation support.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to persuasively deliver presentations to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong Relationship building skills and proven ability to collaborate across multi functions and with all levels of the organization is necessary.
  • Proven ability to drive and influence change is essential.
  • Proven experience in project management; strong technical skills, knowledge of Quality System Regulations and change management experience.
  • Highly developed knowledge of project and program management principles, practices, techniques and tools and change management experience.
  • Must have experience with Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word MS project.
  • Must have strong technical aptitude and be comfortable in working with engineers.
  • Demonstrated strengths in critical thinking and innovative problem solving skills are essential.
  • Financial and strategic knowledge is essential.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing and evolving work environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing employee performance and development is essential.

Position: Customer Service Coordinator, Canada - 4 month contract

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work with the Customer Service team as a liaison within the network of sales associates and Canadian distributors of our products. This will include reviewing, accepting and entering sales orders and resolving discrepancies with pricing, part descriptions, delivery dates etc. The successful candidate will be responsible for answering the Customer Service and Tech Service phone lines, responding to inquiries, providing information on our products and trouble-shooting problems. The position encompasses processing customer requests for product returns and price adjustments, issuing credits, processing and tracking promotional claims and other administrative tasks. There will also be reception relief during breaks and vacation time.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review, enter and confirm customer orders and resolve discrepancies with regards to part numbers, product descriptions, pricing and delivery dates;
  • Liaise with Finance, Production, Warehouse, Materials and other departments to ensure timely and correct processing of all customer orders;
  • Answer the Customer and Technical Service phone lines and pick up messages from the customer service mail box;
  • • Respond to customer inquiries on product availability, order and repair status, product and pricing information and provide quotations upon request;
  • Verify customers' eligibility for promotions, order promotional items and document their shipment in the ERP system;
  • Review and accept/refuse customer requests for product returns and credits, obtain authorization from Management, if required, and issue RGAs (Return of Goods Authorizations) in the ERP system;
  • Issue credits to correct order entry and shipping mistakes, short-shipments and adjust pricing for promotions;
  • Resolve and/or forward customer complaints to the Complaint and Customer Service Managers;
  • Assist dealer technicians with part numbers and simple service solutions;
  • Obtain the necessary information for and initiate the setup of new customer accounts
  • Support the Sales teams with inquires and requests they have raised, including sales history, orders and RGAs;
  • Maintain customer contact information as well as customer order and shipping requirements in the ERP system

Requirements:

  • University or college certificate, preferably in Business Administration, or equivalent experience;
  • Customer experience focused and highly responsive to requests and issues;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong administrative skills and/or experience in an administrative role such as Executive Assistant;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Basic technical understanding;
  • Efficient and effective in ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders and customer requests while protecting company's interests;
  • Excellent prioritizing, planning and organizational skills;
  • Strong problem solving/decision making ability;
  • Enthusiastic team player;
  • Strong work ethic

Additional Assets:

  • Working knowledge of AS400 or similar
  • Experience in technical products/manufacturing environment
  • Customer service experience within a sales/distribution environment
  • Fluency in French
